Technology is a vital tool in providing the connection we need to build communities remotely. That applies to the nuts and bolts of accessing the tools and services you need to complete to-do’s; and also in ensuring that you’re able to connect to one another and build lasting relationships heading into your first semester.

Here’s a quick UVM tech toolkit to help you make the most of connecting to UVM (and your peers) throughout your academic career:

Brightspace

Brightspace is UVM’s new LMS (Learning Management System), replacing Blackboard in Fall 2023. It lets your professors communicate with you online, share resources and readings, and grade your works all in a central location. It also provides you with the ability to submit assignments digitally, write reflections, and participate in written discussions.  A number of classes at UVM will require you to use Brightspace to submit assignments and participate in class projects. See the Brightspace for Students UVM Knowledge Base article to get started.

Microsoft Teams

Video calls, chats, small group meetings and our Live Events will mostly take place on Microsoft Teams this summer. You can access Teams from the web, but we recommend installing the handy desktop or mobile app.  Just download and log in with your UVM netid and password - and you’ll be good to go!
