The Peer Mentor Program is an initiative designed as a resource for first year students as they transition to college life in the Honors College. Incoming students are grouped with an upper-class Honors College student who serves as the Peer Mentor - a mentor sharing experience, listening, giving advice, and ultimately being the resource students need during their first semester here. Throughout the year various programs and events are held to meet the unique needs of first year students in a new environment. Peer Mentors host these events to encourage our students to forge meaningful connections and build lasting memories together. A few highlights from this past year include open mic, therapy dogs, art therapy, Jeopardy games, a Super Bowl Party and plenty of arts and crafts nights.

Fosca Bechthold

Fosca Bechthold

Hello all! I’m Fosca, a senior from Cambridge, MA studying Geography in CAS with a minor in Biology. In spring of 2022 I studied abroad in Seville, Spain (my photo is from nearby Granada with the Alhambra!). I then spent this past summer in Italy working on my thesis research about emigration and the connections northeastern Italians have with the places they grew up. On campus, I lead trips for the Outing Club, ski with the Nordic Ski Club and Chicks on Sticks, dance with the Dance Force club, and edit for Headwaters Magazine. I also love to read, make art, cook, bake, hang out with friends, and spend time outdoors in and around the Burlington area! If you haven’t already gathered, I have many different academic and non-academic interests, so there’s sure to be something we have in common! This is sadly my last year peer mentoring after many years, but I’m really looking forward to meeting you all, so please reach out to me!  My email: fbechtho@uvm.edu
