Students may have a number of different holds that affect course registration, access to grades and transcript requests. Below are a list of common holds along with the processes and contact information to resolve these holds.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list of holds. To view holds and your specific registration day and time, click on the check registration status (view holds) link on the Registrar page in myUVM. 

AA: See Advisor Hold

Please connect with your academic advisor or Student Services in your School/College to discuss this hold and the process to have this hold lifted. If you have an upcoming appointment with your academic advisor, your hold should be removed within 48 hours of your meeting. 

FH: Financial Hold

Financial hold due to an unpaid balance due. Use the myUVM portal to research and pay your balance. The hold will be removed overnight after payment is posted to settle your balance. Please contact Student Financial Services at or 802.656.5700 with questions.

ID: ID Hold

We are missing your Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN). While this hold will not prevent course registration, it is required in order to receive final grades and academic transcripts. For more information and to provide the missing information, please go to

IH: Insurance Hold

This hold is added to students’ accounts who have not yet completed the mandatory online health insurance decision/waiver form. Up until September 15 for the fall semester and February 15 for students who are new/readmitted to UVM for the spring semester, students can complete the health insurance decision/waiver form within the open enrollment period. Once completed the hold will automatically be removed and charges will be reversed (if not accepting the insurance). Students who have holds on their accounts after open enrollment ends should contact the Student Insurance Office regarding this hold, as the waiver is no longer accessible. IM: Immunization Compliance Hold

Please upload additional documentation via the MyWellbeing portal by clicking on Medical Clearances on the left side menu. Please upload documentation for any immunizations that are “Not Compliant” by clicking the green update button. JH: Judicial Hold
