Lecturer

Marie-France Nelson is a Lecturer in the Grossman School of Business at the University of Vermont. Marie-France completed her undergraduate degree from University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts and earned an MBA from the University of Houston-Victoria.

Prior to teaching, Marie-France held sales and marketing positions in the ski, pharmaceutical, and business strategy industries. She has worked as a consultant for startup companies. Most of her experience is in marketing and sales.

Before her academic career at UVM, Marie-France taught marketing courses for 10 years at St-Michael’s College and previously at Champlain College. Bringing the real world to the classroom is an essential component in designing courses. Assignments are created so students can use them for internships and job interviews. In her upper-level electives, she focuses on giving students opportunities to work with local and international companies. Successful and inspiring guest speakers are invited to share their expertise and experience with students.

In addition to teaching, Marie-France is part of the First-Year Experience team, Case Competition advisor and coach, Grossman Undergraduate Case Competition Committee faculty advisor, and UVM Dressage Team faculty advisor.

Marie-France is originally from Montreal, Canada and a French native speaker. She is an avid equestrian specializing in dressage, a half marathon runner and former triathlete. She also enjoys traveling domestically and internationally.
