Undergraduate students have exciting opportunities to participate in Gund research, learn from scholars and attend events.


Gund Undergraduate Research Awards

In partnership with UVM’s Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), the Gund Institute will provide new summer undergraduate research opportunities for students with interest in conducting environmental research.

For Summer 2018, the Gund Institute will co-fund two $5,000 undergraduate research scholarships. To apply, students complete the Office of Undergraduate Research's standard application and check the box marked “Gund.”

Students will present their research at the UVM Student Research Conference the following Spring.

General Requirements

Gund undergraduate research scholars:

  • Are supervised by at least one Gund Fellow (faculty, PhD or postdoc) or UVM Affiliate.
  • Complete the research in the same year in which they applied.
  • Participate in Gund activities and events during the year of their research.
  • Get access to deskspace and wifi at the Johnson House over the summer of their project.
  • Can request travel support from the Gund if accepted to present their research at a conference.
  • Should acknowledge Gund financial support in all resulting presentations and publications.
