Become a Gund undergraduate researcher.

The Gund Institute offers undergraduate students exciting opportunities to participate in faculty research, conduct thesis projects, attend events and learn from visiting scholars.

Gund Undergraduate Research Awards

Each summer, Gund Undergraduate Research Awards supports environmental research by UVM undergrads, in partnership with the Office of Fellowships, Opportunities, Undergraduate Research.

The Gund Institute will co-fund two $5,000 undergraduate research scholarships for Summer 2019.

Student must be supervised by at least one Gund Fellow, or UVM-based Gund Affiliate. They present their research at the UVM Student Research Conference the following Spring.

Benefits and Responsibilities

Gund undergraduate research scholars:

  • Are supervised by at least one Gund Fellow (faculty, PhD or postdoc) or UVM Affiliate.
  • Complete the research in the same year in which they applied.
  • Participate in Gund activities and events during the year of their research.
  • Get access to deskspace and wifi at the Johnson House over the summer of their project.
  • Can request travel support from the Gund if accepted to present their research at a conference.
  • Should acknowledge Gund financial support in all resulting presentations and publications.
