Matt Cota is the owner of Meadow Hill, a Montpelier based management and government affairs consulting firm. Meadow Hill helps trade associations navigate Vermont’s business, political and regulatory landscape. Cota is a former journalist with a master’s degree in public policy and more than sixteen years of experience managing non-profit organizations.

Elected to the South Burlington City Council in 2021, Cota has also served as a Commissioner on the Green Mountain Transit Agency, the Plainfield Planning Commission and is the former Chair of the South Burlington Development Review Board. As the founding director of the Split the Ticket Fund, Cota has organized the delivery more than 100,000 gallons of free heating fuel to Vermont's neighbors in need.

Cota earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Communications from the George Washington University and a Masters Degree in Public Policy with Distinction from California State University Northridge.

He is the recipient of the Financial Services Champion Award from U.S. Small Business Administration, the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence and is a contributing author of “Bioenergy” published by Academic Press.
