Getting Started on Handshake
The first step to accessing Handshake resources is to create your profile. Profiles are easy to set up. You can log-in with your Net ID. We recommend the following:
- Make a complete profile to attract the most employers – complete profiles get 5x as much attention
- Include your picture or company logo if you are joining as a company
- If you have never had a Handshake account or need to change your email address, please contact us: career@uvm.edu
Find Jobs
Once your profile is complete, you have access to the 1.5 million job and internship opportunities posted on Handshake each year. Opportunities span all industries and range from part-time to full-time.
- Use the filters to narrow down exactly what you want
- Save searches and notifications as new opportunities arise
- Read about experiences that other people have had
- Contact other Handshake users to get more information about their experiences
Post Job and Internship Opportunities for UVM Students
Whether you want to tap into the local Catamount network or reach a global audience, Handshake makes it easy to post your organization’s jobs & internships openings.

Attend Networking and Other Career-Related Events
Handshake is a great place to find networking and career-related events, both virtual and in-person. Attending these events is a great way to meet industry professionals and get firsthand insight into a career.
Handshake also hosts our Virtual Career Fairs offered each semester.
Post Your Own Events
Looking to connect with current students, faculty and staff or fellow alums? You can create your own events on Handshake as well.
Access UVM Career Center Services
As an alum, you have lifelong access to UVM Career Center services. Through Handshake, you can set up virtual or in-person appointments with a career professional. You can also submit your resume or cover letter for review.
