In preparation for the upcoming beta release of the ARIES online ecosystem services explorer, the ARIES modeling guide, version 1.0, has just been released and is available for viewing and download at http://ariesonline.org/resources/toolkit.html.  ARIES is the Artificial Intelligence for Ecosystem Services system built at the Gund Institute through funding from a recently completed grant from the National Science Foundation and via numerious case studies with partners around the world. The modeling guide provides background references and data sources, model structure, and assumptions for models of eight ecosystem services currently available in the ARIES system.
