"The Institute of Environmental Diplomacy and Security (IEDS) at the
University of Vermont is holding its inaugural conference Oct 21-23,
2011, in Burlington VT.  This weekend conference features speakers on
a variety of international environmental conflict issues, with a
special emphasis on energy, resource, and border problems.

Geographical foci are the Arctic, Africa, and Eurasia.  A special
panel will also examine global hazardous pollutants, and another will
examine the social ecology of borders.

Finally, one afternoon will be spent on a cruise on Lake Champlain,
discussing Northeast regional issues with representatives from tribal,
energy, and environmental speakers.
