UVM's Computer Science Crew (CS Crew) is a weekly club that covers many aspects of Computer Science, including interview prep, personal projects, and coding competitions. We also host a Course Review before course selection each semester, where we'll go through every Computer Science class being offered and give honest, unfiltered student reviews on each class.
Our flagship event is UVMHacks, our annual hackathon that takes place every February. In 2026, 80+ students from 4 universities competed for $5000 in prize money. Mentors and Alumni from local companies (Beta, Nu Harbor Cybersecurity, etc.) provide support throughout the event. The entire competition takes place in one day (and there's free food!). Registration will open early 2027.
Meetings
Our general meetings are weekly on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 pm, in Innovation E327.

UVMHacks
UVMHacks is our annual student-run hackathon held during the spring semester. In 2026, 80+ students from UVM, Brown University, Middlebury College, and Champlain College competed for $5000 in prizes, with projects that explored sustainability, financial literacy, and the possible benefits (and detriments) of implementing artificial intelligence. Mentors from local tech companies, including BETA Technologies and Nu Harbor Cybersecurity, offer support and advice throughout the day, and projects are judged by panels of mentors, alumni, and professors. All participants receive three catered meals, a t-shirt, and a great time!
