Students in the CCV Early Childhood Education A.A. program can pursue a UVM Early Childhood Education B.S.Ed. program.

This program provides students with a supportive yet rigorous environment and field-based experiences needed for the development of knowledge and skills for working effectively with families, colleagues, and children from birth to grade 3.

Students should choose a classroom setting inclusive of children (birth-age 5) who are culturally and linguistically diverse and experiencing developmental delay or disability.

Practicum objetives for Preschool experience for students matriculating into UVM to complete Bachelor's degree (80 hours of field work):
 

  • Establish respectful, reciprocal and responsive relationships with children, families and teachers (NAEYC Initial Licensure Standards 1a,b,c; 2b,c; 4a)
  • Use developmental knowledge to foster healthy, respectful, inclusive, supportive and appropriately challenging learning environments for young children (NAEYC Initial Licensure Standards 1c; 4a,b,c; 5c)
  • Consider the role of family, culture, and context in the development of young children and issues of diversity and inclusionary practice in the classroom (NAEYC Initial Licensure Standards 1b; 2a; 4a,d)
  • Demonstrate skills related to professionalism, such as accountability, affect/disposition, communication and upholding ethical standards (NAEYC Initial Licensure Standards 4a,d; 6a,b)
