Every year, the Office of International Education hosts a Study Abroad Photo Contest for UVM students who studied abroad during the previous year. The contest accepts high-resolution photo submissions in five different categories. All photos will be uploaded to the UVM Study Abroad Facebook page for a vote to determine the People's Choice winner.

The contest is currently on hold, please stay tuned for updates.

Photo contest categories

Each photo you enter in the contest must fit into one of these categories:

  • Academic Engagement: demonstrates the "study" part of study abroad--you or your classmates in the classroom, doing field work, at your internship, or on an academic field trip.
  • Cultural Engagement: shows your interaction with your host country's cultural events, traditions, meals, or typical daily life.
  • UVM Spirit: could include photos with you wearing UVM clothing, or with other UVM students.
  • Most Creative: shows your creative side!
  • Best Landscape: shows landmarks, scenery, and places that are meaningful to your experience abroad.

To enter the contest

Please submit your photos by email to studyabroad@uvm.edu.

  • The email should have "Study Abroad Photo Contest Submission" as its subject line.
  • The email should include descriptions (around two sentences in length) for each photo and its significance to your experience abroad.
  • All photos should be JPG or PNG filetypes.
  • Photos are required to be high-resolution: above 1200x1600 pixels or taken by cell phones that shoot in HD.
  • The file name of each photo should have the following format: location of photo_photo contest category_your name.
