The Office of International Education (OIE) promotes intercultural understanding, respect and empathy between people of different cultures, worldviews and global backgrounds. This work is critical to fulfilling UVM's mission to prepare students to be accountable leaders who will bring to their work dedication to the global community, a grasp of complexity, effective problem-solving and communication skills, and an enduring commitment to learning and ethical conduct.
As part of UVM's Division of Academic Affairs and Student Success, the OIE supports students in having rich educational, professional and personal experiences outside their home countries. We also provide the advising and support necessary for foreign national visiting scholars and employees to successfully undertake their professional objectives here at UVM, supporting UVM in attracting and retaining talent from around the globe.
Our International Student, Scholars and Employee Services team advises on non-immigrant (F-1, J-1, TN, H-1B) and immigrant (permanent residency) matters and assists international students, faculty, visiting scholars and staff in their transition to and success at UVM through orientation, educational programs and community building events.
Our Study Abroad team assists students in identifying study abroad options which meet their academic and personal goals, while teaching students about the steps required and resources for traveling to other countries safely and responsibly for the remainder of their lives.
We value integrity, respect, exceptional customer service, collaboration, optimism and justice.
