This award, established in 2008 by Dr. Milton Silveira, recognizes the junior faculty member in the CEMS who, "best embodies a 'pioneering spirit', drive and potential to succeed at the highest levels of his or her profession." Faculty previously recognized: Dr. Frederic Sansoz in 2008, Dr. Josh Bongard in 2009 and Dr. Jane Hill in 2010.
“Voight’s research reflects just some of the incredible work recognized internationally by many of our younger faculty members,” says Bernard “Chip” Cole, Interim Dean of CEMS.
Dr. Voight is recognized for his scholarly contributions in the areas of arithmetic algebraic geometry and number theory. He has won numerous awards and honors for his work, and he has delivered a vast array of invited lectures both in the United States and abroad. His international presence as a researcher is very impressive. In 2010, Dr. Voight was the winner of the prestigious Selfridge Prize, awarded by the Number Theory Foundation, for his paper "Computing automorphic forms on Shimura curves over fields with arbitrary class number."
