As UVM students move towards their professional future, the most daunting task shouldn't be affording career-ready clothing. Thanks to the Grossman Student Advisory Committee (GSAC), UVM students can access a variety of career-ready clothing at an affordable price at the fourth annual Professional Business Attire Sale, September 19 – 20, 2023. UVM students are welcome to explore the racks both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Keller room in Ifshin Hall.
Since the event began in 2019, GSAC members saw the need for accessible business professional and business casual clothing for students who may be preparing for interviews, career fairs, or even presentations. Since then, the event has grown to become a staple in the UVM community. Clothing donations are accepted from all over Burlington (and beyond) from alums, family members, and businesses. Clothing such as suits, skirts, button-down shirts, ties, and dress shoes will be available for purchase, thanks to these contributions.
“With so many presentations and interview opportunities in GSB, this event makes it much more accessible for students to be prepared for when those opportunities arise. I've really enjoyed the fact that students from different colleges within UVM have also discovered the event and used it to their advantage," said GSAC President Aedan Knowlton, senior at GSB.
GSAC’s Professional Attire Sales Event allows any UVM student to buy professional clothing with debit or credit card, with proceeds being reinvested into the event itself to continue the legacy of preparing students for success both inside and outside of the classroom.
“Dress for Success is one of my favorite, if not my overall favorite, event we have here at Grossman. Seeing students pick out a piece of clothing that will be used for years to come, which will be a component of them reaching their goals and potential, is what makes me so happy and is the essence of what this event truly is,” added Knowlton.
The Professional Business Attire event is one of many initiatives GSAC has organized for students. Learn more about GSAC and other GSB clubs. If you're interested in donating professional clothing, donations are accepted on a rolling basis at GSB's Center for Student Success.
