A ‘Co-op’ is a full-time, paid professional work experience that offers hands-on involvement. It allows you to develop practical skills, enhance your problem-solving abilities, and apply your academic knowledge in a business context.
‘Co-op’ lasts four to six months, during either Spring-Summer or Summer-Fall. You will be employed instead of enrolled in classes. Check out the FAQ sectionfor common student questions.
To integrate a Co-op experience into your four-year academic plan, connect with your GSB academic advisor at the GSB Center for Student Success. Then, collaborate with a Career Services Partner to plan your Co-op journey, whether you choose to work in another city or right here in the Green Mountain State.
Employer Organizations
We are excited to work with existing employer partners and establish new relationships as the Co-op program launches.
To explore how your organization can get involved, contact Stephanie Meunier, Cooperative Education Director, Grossman School of Business.
What distinguishes a Co-op from an Internship?
Internships and Co-op are both work-integrated learning. Both can be impactful experiences in which to apply knowledge and gain insight toward postgraduate career paths.
Grossman students are encouraged to complete internships early as shorter work experiences to explore various career interest areas often during semester or summer break periods. Co-op programs are full-time paid positions that require junior year standing and rigorous academic planning as you won’t be taking courses during your co-op employment.
