Adding the Grossman Co-op to your BSBA
Who is eligible for Grossman Co-op?
Grossman Co-op is one of the latest additions to the robust experiential learning offerings at GSB for undergraduates earning a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). Typically, this can occur at Junior year standing, after completing Basic Business Core Requirements, Professional Development Series (PDS), and at least one Field Course.
What are the eligibility requirements for Grossman Co-op participation?
At the time the Co-op semester begins:
- Enrolled in the UVM Grossman School of Business of Science Business Administration degree program.
- Enrolled as UVM Business Co-major
- Be in good academic standing. A GPA of 3.0 or better is preferred.
- Successfully completed the Business Core requirements.
- Completed at least 57 Academic Credits by the Co-op role start
- Demonstrated completion progression in Professional Development Series I, II, III
Are there recommendations for a Field Course before Grossman Co-op?
Yes.
Completing BUS 2300 Leadership & Org Behavior is strongly recommended for all Grossman Co-op placements.

Co-op Program Application Timelines
The Co-op program spans multiple semesters and includes planning and preparation to obtain a full-time Co-op position at an employer's worksite. Students must apply for one semester before working in a full-time Co-op position at an employer’s worksite.
Spring 2026 Application Timeline
Apply during this application period to achieve VERIFIED status. Once accepted to the Grossman Co-op Program with VERIFIED status, you will prepare to interview for positions to go on a Co-op during the Fall 2026 Co-op Cycle (July – December).
Upon acceptance, you will be paired with a Grossman Co-op Advisor who will provide career coaching, assist you in your Co-op position search, and support you in applying for Co-op roles.

Applications for Fall 2026 Co-op will open in mid-March 2026.
What type of Co-op positions are available?
Co-op positions may vary from semester to semester, offering both the opportunity to work on-site in major cities with other students, such as Boston and New York, and those near campus in the Burlington, VT area.

Co-op FAQs
Tuition, Fees & Taking Courses on Co-op
Students are not charged tuition or fees while on Co-op as they will not be taking classes while working full-time in a Co-op position. The University maintains a student's full-time student status. Students will not have access to University services while on Co-op, including library, gym, on-campus housing, and are ineligible to participate in club sports and on-campus student activities.
Health Insurance & Health Services
Grossman Co-op Students are required to have health insurance while participating in a Grossman Co-op. Students can pay for University health insurance, join a parent’s health insurance (if applicable), or use other services. If a student opts to buy the University health insurance, they are required to pay the Student Health Center Fee. They are eligible to use services offered by the University Health Center. Students are not eligible to use University Health services for all other health insurance options.
Student Discounts
Students ARE still eligible to receive discounts. For example, ski passes are available to Co-op students because they are considered full-time active students.
Verification of Full-time Student Status
Students are considered full-time active students while participating in a Grossman Co-op, and letters verifying this status are available from the registrar upon request.
Federal Student Aid & Scholarships
Students are not eligible to receive federal student financial aid or scholarships while participating in a Co-op whether they take courses or not. Students are still considered active students and will not lose scholarships or financial aid but will not receive those forms of aid during the Co-op experience. Students are responsible for completing FASFA applications and requirements while on Co-op. All Co-ops are paid to help defray costs of living during the Co-op experience. UVM Email and Course Registration
Students will have an active UVM netID that will allow them to check email and register for courses while on Grossman Co-op. Students are responsible for registering for the Grossman Co-op course.
Students will also have access to UVM email and are REQUIRED to monitor their UVM email while on Grossman Co-op. All University communication will occur through UVM email including important emails about financial aid and Grossman Co-op requirements.
Athletes
Students participating in a Grossman Co-op are NOT eligible to participate in athletic events associated with the University, including varsity and intramural sports.
Housing & Transportation
Students are responsible for finding their housing and transportation while participating in Grossman Co-op. Grossman Co-op students are NOT eligible for on-campus student housing.
