Grossman School of Business
A message from Dr. Vikas Anand, Dean of the Grossman School of Business.

Welcome to the Grossman School of Business at the University of Vermont.

It is a privilege to join a school with such a distinctive identity, a strong sense of purpose, and a deep commitment to preparing students for leadership in a changing world. At Grossman, business education is grounded in the belief that organizations can be both successful and responsible, that innovation must be connected to impact, and that students learn best when rigorous classroom learning is paired with real-world experience.

The Grossman School has earned national and international recognition for its strengths in sustainable business, family business, entrepreneurship, accounting, and experiential learning. Our programs attract talented students from Vermont, New England, across the United States, and around the world. They come to Grossman because they are looking for more than a business degree. They are looking for an education that will help them think critically, act ethically, work collaboratively, and lead with purpose.

Our undergraduate programs combine a strong foundation in business with a robust liberal arts curriculum that strengthens critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills. Students pursue concentrations in areas such as accounting, finance, marketing, and business analytics while exploring distinctive themes in global business, sustainable business, and entrepreneurship. Just as importantly, they engage in a comprehensive development program that is based on internships, case competitions, co-ops, pitch competitions, career panels, alumni-led courses, student trips, and other experiences that connect learning to practice.

Our graduate programs build on this same commitment to excellence and impact. Grossman’s Sustainable Innovation MBA has been recognized as one of the leading programs of its kind, and our Master of Accountancy program has a strong record of preparing students for professional success. Across our programs, we are committed to helping students develop the knowledge, judgment, and adaptability needed to succeed in a dynamic global economy.

Grossman’s strength comes from its people. Our faculty are accomplished scholars and dedicated teachers whose research and teaching address important questions facing business and society. Our staff are deeply committed to student success. Indeed, 95% of Grossman students had employment or were pursuing further studies six months after graduation.

Our alumni and friends are generous partners who support students through mentoring, experiential learning, career connections, philanthropy, and engagement with the life of the school. Their many donations of time, talent, and treasure have created a robust selection of annual presentations, panel discussions, and engaging guest speakers, and many of our buildings, rooms, and programs proudly bear the names of alumni and donors that believe in business as a force for good. In addition to this, I inherit an extremely invested and active board of advisors, whose diverse points of view will continue to help shape the prosperous future of the Grossman School.

As I begin my tenure as Dean, my first priority is to listen and learn from the Grossman community—our students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, university partners, and friends. I am excited to build on the school’s strong foundation and to work together to advance its mission in ways that are ambitious, inclusive, and true to UVM’s values.

Business schools have an important role to play at this moment. We must prepare graduates who can navigate complexity, use data and technology wisely, create value responsibly, and contribute to organizations and communities in meaningful ways. The Grossman School of Business is exceptionally well positioned to do this work, as evidenced by some of the many accolades we have received:

I invite you to learn more about Grossman, visit us in Burlington, connect with our community, and join us as we prepare the next generation of responsible business leaders.
