Al Gore, 45th U.S. vice president, spoke on “The Climate Crisis and the Case for Hope" at the University of Vermont on Oct. 6, 2015. Listen to the full podcast below.

His hour-long talk, which took place at UVM's Ira Allen Chapel, included a slideshow presentation detailing the urgency of the climate crisis and practical solutions to address the challenge.

More than 1,000 people attended the public event, including local 4th and 5th graders from Vermont's Sustainability Academy and the UVM community. Free tickets for the talk "sold out" in nine minutes.

"We need to put a price on carbon, and a price on denial in politics," said Gore, who lauded Burlington for being the first U.S. city to run on 100 percent renewable power. "We are going to win this stuggle."
