The Gund Institute hosted a public dialogue on sustainability with Vermont Public Radio host Jane Lindholm and leading scholars Andrew Balmford and Stephen Polasky.
The event, titled An Economist and Ecologist Walk into a Bar (And Discuss the Future of the Planet), took place Oct. 27 in front of a capacity crowd of 200 people at UVM.

Polasky is an economist at the University of Minnesota and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Science. He is a Gund Affiliate and UVM James Marsh Professor-at-Large.
Balmford is an ecologist at University of Cambridge, a fellow of the Royal Society and a UVM Burack Distinguished Lecturer. Balmford’s Oct. 30 talk at UVM, “Wild Hope: On The Front Line’s of Conservation Success,” is also available as an audio podcast.
