The CDAE Student Ambassador Program is a leadership opportunity for students who are dedicated to serving and playing a special role in CDAE. With the tools and support from the CDAE Advising Team, CDAE Student Ambassadors will engage in creative ways to promote the CDAE department on their college campus and community events. Ethan Frey Class of 2023 Graduate was the recipient of the CDAE Student Ambassador Award. This award is presented to an outstanding student who has demonstrated the department's values rooted in community engagement, effective communication, teamwork, sustainability, empathy, and responsibility within and beyond the UVM community.

Beginning Fall Semester 2023, the Department of Community Development and Applied Economics is pleased to announce the launch of the CDAE Student Ambassador Program.
Who is eligible to apply?
CDAE students of all ranks and majors are welcome.
What will be CDAE Student Ambassador Responsibilities?
CDAE Student Ambassadors work closely with CDAE Advising Team. Together they represent our department in a variety of in-person events, such as Admitted Student Day, Welcome to CALS events, and CDAE Town Meeting Day –these are important events where people are eager to meet current CDAE students. Depending on the event, Ambassadors will engage in public speaking, tabling, and interpersonal communication.
What Skills are Needed to be an Ambassador?
A positive attitude and excitement for CDAE is the most important part of this position. Ambassadors will use interpersonal and public speaking communication skills. CDAE Student Ambassadors will be mentored, giving them the information and tools needed to be our shinning stars!
What is the Time Commitment?
Most of these events happen at the beginning of the fall semester and in the middle of the spring semester. We will have informal meetings before these events for planning. The Student Ambassadors will share the responsibility of covering events based on their scheduling needs.
What are the Outcomes of being a CDAE student Ambassador?
CDAE Student Ambassadors will gain professional public communication skills. This is an excellent "hit" on their resume (we are happy to help you write up this job description – just ask!).
