At the Grossman School of Business, excellence takes many forms, from academic distinction to leadership, global engagement, and competitive achievement. Junior Sloane Price ’27 embodies that intersection, balancing high academic achievement with dynamic leadership on the UVM Dance Team as she performs at basketball and soccer games, fueling Catamount pride across campus.

A Business Administration major with a concentration in Marketing and a theme in Global Business, Sloane brings together critical thinking and real-world problem-solving across her academic and extracurricular pursuits. A high-achieving member of the Patrick Leahy Honors College, she demonstrates a strong commitment to academic excellence while actively applying classroom concepts to leadership roles. As the current assistant treasurer for the UVM Dance Team and a former student ambassador for the Schlesinger Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (SG-FECC), she integrates Grossman principles like financial management into meaningful, hands-on experiences, building connections through dance, academics, and campus involvement.

For Sloane, motivation comes from her teammates and peers, who uplift one another toward success. “My teammates and peers motivate me the most,” she shares. “Having a team that is always uplifting one another and striving for success motivates me to do my best and be there for my team. Both dance and being a part of Grossman have given me purpose during my time at UVM and allowed me to form meaningful connections.”

That sense of belonging shines brightest at UVM games. “Dancing at both UVM basketball and soccer games makes me feel extremely connected to the UVM community,” she says. “There truly is no other place like Catamount Country and I love seeing everyone show their Catamount pride every game day.”

Sloane finds her greatest academic excitement in coursework that demands critical thinking and practical application. “I’m most challenged and excited by coursework that pushes me to think critically and apply concepts to real-world situations,” she explains. “I enjoy having to solve problems, collaborate, and approach ideas from different perspectives or apply new tools. That kind of challenge keeps me engaged and constantly learning.”

Her semester abroad in Spain transformed how she approaches challenges. “My study abroad in Spain has made me have a much calmer approach to complex problems both inside and outside the classroom,” she reflects. “It has taught me how to be confident in my work even if I may not know the professor, students, or environment super well.”

Sloane’s horizons have expanded through standout opportunities like her SG-FECC ambassadorship, study abroad, and treasurer role on the dance team. “Participating in SG-FECC as a student ambassador and studying abroad this semester has opened up my eyes to how many opportunities there are outside of UVM and after graduation,” she notes. “I have also had the opportunity to hold an officer position on the UVM Dance Team as a treasurer. It has been a great way for me to bring my knowledge from Grossman to the Dance Team through financial management and team leadership.”

Balancing dance with advanced coursework demands discipline, but Sloane thrives on equilibrium and planning. “I think balance is key!” she says. “I value my schoolwork and dance team but relaxing and spending time with friends and getting involved in other Grossman and UVM clubs and activities is just as important. I also think it is so important to always have a plan, whether it be for your day, week, or even semester. Planning has helped me with my time management and juggling multiple responsibilities.”

Sloane hopes her story inspires Grossman students and student athletes to seize every possibility. “I hope they see that you can truly have any experience you set your mind to,” she concludes. “There are so many opportunities out there and now is the time to do it all. Getting involved in UVM and Grossman has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.”
