For 50 years the Rubenstein School has prepared environmentally and socially responsible leaders, scientists, practitioners, and advocates.

Our science-based curriculum recognizes the interdependence of people and healthy ecological systems. Rubenstein School programs focus on experiential learning and inspire students to apply knowledge to real-world projects. Our graduates gain the skills needed to make change and resolve complex environmental challenges.

About the School

The School of Natural Resources at UVM was established in 1973. In 2003, the School became the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, the first named and endowed academic unit at the University. Over the past 50+ years, the School has grown into a hub of environmental innovation.

Rubenstein School students are highly engaged in many organizations and clubs across UVM. From the Wildlife Society and the Forestry Club to the Student Advisory Board, there are groups for wide-ranging interests and community-building opportunities.
