Terms and Conditions

  • To qualify for the RSP tuition discount, students must declare a degree in a program approved for residents of their state prior to the end of the course add/drop period for a given semester.
  • In order to retain eligibility for the discounted tuition rate, students must continue to pursue their RSP-approved degree program by enrolling in at least one course per semester that applies toward their RSP-approved degree. If a student changes to a non RSP-eligible major after the end of course add/drop, they may still receive the discounted tuition rate for the remainder of the semester as long as they do not withdraw from all courses applying toward their original RSP eligible degree.  Students who fail to remain in the appropriate courses will no longer be eligible for reduced tuition and will be billed accordingly.
  •  Further, if a student switches to an unapproved major prior to the end of course add/drop, they will no longer be eligible for reduced tuition and will be billed accordingly.
  • Approval for eligible NEBHE programs is not retroactive; therefore the discount cannot be applied to past terms.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to review the tuition bill statement each semester to confirm the RSP tuition discount is applied. If the RSP tuition discount has been approved but is not listed on the bill, please contact Student Financial Services.
  • Students participating in a study abroad program are typically not eligible for the RSP tuition discount for the term(s) abroad. The only exception to this policy is for students participating in the UVM Semester Abroad program to Costa Rica run through the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
  • For students admitted Fall 2019 or later, the NEBHE tuition break eligibility will reduce UVM merit scholarship by 30%. This reduction reflects a proration of the scholarship based on the reduced tuition rate with the NEBHE tuition credit. The full merit scholarship amount will be reinstated if you are determined ineligible for the tuition break as a result of course enrollment or change to a non-eligible major. All other scholarship terms and conditions remain in effect and can be reviewed at UVM Scholarship Policies.
