Education
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility provides education for medical students and Obstetrics and Gynecology residents, alongside a renowned fellowship program. Medical students participate in a senior clerkship that includes surgical procedures, gynecologic ultrasound, clinical practice, and didactic sessions, working closely with faculty.
Residents at The University of Vermont Medical Center complete two rotations in Reproductive Endocrinology—one in their second year and another in their third year. They gain hands-on experience in patient care, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, myomectomies, transvaginal and 3D ultrasound, advanced reproductive technologies, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
Research
The Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility conducts clinical and basic research, participating in NIH-funded clinical trials focused on ovulation induction for PCOS and treatment for unexplained infertility. Dr. Kallen's research interests include ovarian physiology, folliculogenesis, fertility preservation, and sex differences in physiology. REI fellows also engage in research projects with various mentors. Support for this research comes from NIH, AHRQ, ASRM, and other sources. Referrals for subjects and interest in current research programs are encouraged.
