Arrival Details
Early Arrivals and Changing Arrival Days
First-Year Students
You are arriving on either Wednesday, August 20 or Thursday, August 21. Your specific move in date and time will be confirmed in your housing portal in early August (along with your room assignment).
If, due to travel arrangements, you need to switch from 8/21 to 8/22 or from 8/22 to 8/21, simply call our office and we can make that adjustment for you. We can be reached at 802-656-3434 or universityhousing@uvm.edu. There is no cost for this change.
If you are looking to arrive early, we will have a 1-day early arrival option available. Early arrival fees will be billed to your student account.
One-Day early Arrival - Tuesday, August 19 - $51
To request to arrive early, you must submit an Early Arrival Form on your Housing Portal. You will receive an email confirmation upon submission and will receive an email approving or denying your request in the following days
Returning Students
We will not be allowing anyone to move-in on Saturday, August 23, but we will have early arrival available from Monday, August 18th to Friday, August 22nd. Early return will be billed at a rate of $51 per night, excluding Saturday night ($51 to arrive Friday, $102 to arrive Thursday, etc). Early Arrival is available to returning students during business hours (8am-4:30pm) from Monday, August 18th through Friday, August 22nd
To notify us that you are returning early, you must submit an Early Arrival Form. Early arrival will only be granted to students who have a legitimate reason for not being able to arrive during standard move in.
- These reasons include:
- Students arriving to campus via plane, train, or bus and their travel itinerary requires them to arrive before August 24th
- Students who will be driven to campus by a guardian who is responsible for driving another student to another university on August 24th
- *You will likely need to provide some type of proof that you fall into one of these categories be granted early move-in
Please note: if you fill out the form, you will not receive confirmation of receipt and can just plan to come the day you requested.
Athletes and Students Arriving Early with Campus-Sponsored Programs
You do not need to complete an early arrival form. Your move-in date and time should reflect your early arrival program. But please refer to your program for any information and move-in instructions.
