UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS) has created UVM Winter Sportec, a new challenge to design or invent a device, product or piece of equipment that improves on a current winter sport or creates a totally new winter sport for snow or ice, flat or sloped terrain.
Contestants may be individuals or teams and include members as young as middle school students. College students and adult non-college teams are also eligible to compete. Registration is open from January 1 through March 1, 2008.
Simple technologies paired with snow and ice create fun! The purpose of UVM Winter Sportec is to expand Vermont winter sports, promote innovative sustainable concepts in sports technology, and promote Vermont winter fun.
Contestants will bring their prototypes together with a poster display and video footage to the UVM Sportec Exhibit on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the University Mall in South Burlington to compete for prizes.
Prizes include lift tickets and stays at Vermont resorts, and other great prizes. For more information and to register, visit UVM Winter Sportec.
