The Office of International Education is your resource to understanding your visa status and the federal government's rules associated with working in the US. Be sure to check out their pages on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT), for specific information on gaining practical experience both as a student and graduate.

Resume Tips for International Students

Check out our guide to resumes for advice on resume format and content. You can find resume samples there. As an international student, remember to:

  • Exclude your international addresses or any other personal information (e.g. birth date, photo). 
  • Include your language skills and fluencies, but do not include English if you are using the document for applying to positions in the US.
