BIO
Shiva Soroushnia is a Ph.D. candidate in the Food Systems Program at the University of Vermont. Her research broadly focuses on sustainability and sustainable farm management. What she enjoys most about her work is the opportunity to pursue projects that reflect her diverse interests and passions.
Shiva is deeply interested in the Inner Development Goals (IDG) framework and the importance of approaching sustainability from both personal and systemic perspectives. Her IDG-related research investigates the extent to which farmers adopt IDG skills, how these skills influence their practices, and how farmers can be supported in balancing personal well-being with contributions to more sustainable agricultural and food systems.
Another part of Shiva’s research explores agritourism marketing, examining how farmers promote their agritourism activities, the challenges they face, and how their marketing practices can be better supported and elevated.
Shiva enjoys using mixed methods in her research, as this approach provides a richer and more nuanced understanding of complex phenomena.
Beyond her research, art and yoga are integral parts of Shiva’s life. She also loves sharing food, engaging in meaningful conversations, and spending time with her community.
