Magali Stowell Alemán, Accelerated MPA Candidate

Born in Santa Ana, El Salvador and raised in Southern Vermont, Magali is set to graduate from UVM in December of 2022 with a BS in Community and International Development and a minor in Public Communications. Throughout her time at UVM she has served as an admissions ambassador and undergraduate teaching assistant. Her primary academic focus has been on the role housing plays in assuring the equitable distribution of resources across all types of communities. She has worked with CVOEO’s Housing Advocacy Programs and is currently conducting research on the efficacy of weatherization and home repair programs in mobile home communities across the state of Vermont through the Simon Family Public Research Fellowship. Through the Accelerated MPA program Magali hopes to better understand the complexities of citizen action and public policy and how their interaction on a small scale can help create positive change in the housing sector.
