Dimagi was born and raised in Sri Lanka, a tropical island in the Indian Ocean. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Technology and Management at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She majored in Applied Economics and Business Management due to her interest in the social sciences.  Her undergraduate research about the women garment workers of Sri Lanka was a major motivation for her to pursue research towards development and women's empowerment. She was eager to join the University of Vermont to pursue the MS in CDAE due to its interdisciplinary scope and sustainability focus. Prior to joining the University of Vermont as a MS student, Dimagi worked as a Temporary Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya which was a chapter in her life she enjoyed very much. Dimagi also loves cooking, exploring other cuisines, reading, and watching movies.
