Downloading WinSCP and Accessing your UVM Zoo Files: Windows only*

How to download, and install WinSCP.

The program WinSCP is used to access your UVM Zoo files and folders.

Open a web browser and visit: www.uvm.edu/software

You will be asked to enter your UVM NetID and Password (same username and password you use to login to your UVM email).

After you login you will be brought to a page where you can select your platform. You will want to select “Microsoft Windows”

Scroll down to WinSCP and click on the “Download WinSCP Now” button.

A dialog box will appear. Click the “Save File” button.

When the download completes you can start the installation by double-clicking on “UVM_WinSCP_Psetup_xxx.exe”

The installation process will begin. A screen similar to the one below will appear, click the “Yes” button.

The installation will only take a moment; a progress screen will appear. When the progress screen closes, the WinSCP installation has completed.
To find WinSCP, click the “Start” button and type “winscp” in the search field (as shown in the image below). [Windows 8, press the Windows key (with the flag on it next to Alt) and immediately type WinSCP; click on that app in the list that will appear]

The WinSCP icon will appear in the search results. Click the icon to launch the program.

When the program opens, you will want to click the “Login” button.

The first time you connect you will get a warning that looks like the screen shot below. Verify the key fingerprint shows as:

ssh-rsa 2048 25:a3:79:f6:7e:b6:d5:54:22:6b:2d:a3:3f:c7:f7:09

Then click Yes

Enter your UVM NetID, then click the “OK” button.

Enter your UVM password, then click the “OK” button.

After logging in, your screen will look similar to the image below.

The left column consists of the files and folders on your computer. The right column consists of your UVM Zoo files.

Click and drag your files or folders to the desired destination.  Use the drop down menu or folder buttons at the top to navigate to different folders to locate the files you want to copy to your space on the zoo server, or vice versa. When the file transfer completes you may close WinSCP.
