Science Communications and GIS Analyst Fellowship with Ausable River Association

In partnership with Lake Champlain Sea Grant, the Ausable River Association (AsRA), a nonprofit conservation organization with a mission of working with communities to protect our stream and lakes, seeks a qualified individual to apply advanced GIS data skills to analyze, map, and visualize our scientific field data and present it in ways that effectively communicates AsRA’s programs and projects to diverse audiences. This is a two-year, paid fellowship based in AsRA’s office located in Wilmington, New York, with opportunities to engage and work with Lake Champlain Sea Grant staff in Burlington, Vermont.

Position Overview

Status: Full-time, exempt, 2-year fellowship

Compensation: $40,000 to 44,000 depending on experience, with health, dental, vision, and paid time off benefits

Timeline: Applications due March 18, 2022; application review and interviews are planned to begin in March; start date ASAP

The ideal candidate will be interested in supporting and communicating the work of stream, lake, and floodplain protection and restoration in the Ausable River watershed of upstate New York and neighboring watersheds in the Lake Champlain basin. A qualified individual should have proven proficiency with ArcGIS (Pro, Map, Online, StoryMaps, Model Builder, Spatial Analyst) as demonstrated in prior positions and coursework and a master’s degree in geospatial, ecological, biological, or related sciences, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent certification or work experience.
