The 2023 International Achievement Award from the Family Firm Institute (FFI), the premier global association for family enterprise professionals, was officially presented to the Grossman School of Business for the Schlesinger Global Family Enterprise Case Competition (SG-FECC) at the FFI Annual Global Conference on October 26, 2023 in New York City. Founder and co-chair Dita Sharma received the award on behalf of the business school and SG-FECC.

FFI Awards

The FFI Awards honor excellence in the field across three categories, including Achievement Awards in family business research and practice. FFI established the Achievement Awards for professional achievement in 1992 to further enhance its multidisciplinary and global approach to family enterprise advising, consulting, and research. The FFI International Achievement Award was established in 2000 and recognizes individuals or organizations for outstanding achievement in furthering the understanding of international issues and global networks in multi-generational, family-owned enterprises these prestigious awards are the pinnacles of achievement in the field.

10 Years of SG-FECC

SG-FECC is a four-day competition in which undergraduate and graduate student teams from top business schools around the world analyze cases focused on the unique dilemmas faced by family enterprises, applying participants knowledge and expertise they have developed in the classroom towards complex family business cases. Competitors must prepare their case recommendations for each round and present these to a panel of judges comprising business leaders, educators, and advisors. This case competition was founded in 2013 by Pramodita “Dita” Sharma who runs and co-chairs the event along with Thomas Chittenden. More than 800 student competitors from 66 universities competed in SG-FECC and over 550 judges have participated over the last 10 years. The 11th edition is slated for January 10 – 13, 2024.
