University of Vermont (UVM) students have an opportunity to turn their classroom knowledge into real-world success – and win a prize – at the 6th Grossman’s Deans Cup on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kalkin Hall. This one-day case competition invites UVM students to step into the role of a business consultant, tackle authentic challenges, and compete against fellow students for the chance to win the Dean’s Cup, cash prizes, and more. 

The Dean's Cup serves as excellent preparation for larger case competitions against institutions worldwide, making it a valuable experience for those aspiring to excel in the business world and strengthen their competitive edge. The competition is organized by the Grossman Student Advisory Committee (GSAC), the Grossman School of Business’s (GSB) own organization of motivated and passionate students who work alongside faculty, alumni, and dean to enhance the student and faculty experience at GSB through the creation of initiatives. 

Competition Format 

This year's competition is anticipated to draw the largest turnout yet. Over the one-day competition, teams of two- to four members must prepare and present their case findings to a distinguished panel of judges of business leaders, alumni, and UVM faculty. The judges will assess teams based on their understanding, analysis, and presentation of recommendations. The entire competition consists of two rounds. Round 1 is an in-person presentation at the Grossman School of Business that is evaluated by judges on a variety of criteria. After judges determine finalists based on which teams best understood, analyzed, and presented their recommendations, the final round will commence.  

Dean’s Cup Prizes 

Besides the coveted Grossman Dean's Cup, participants can vie for cash prizes, networking prospects, and limited-edition Grossman swag. As teams from across the campus compete for bragging rights, the winning team also secures a permanent place on the Grossman Dean's Cup first place trophy—and a remarkable achievement to add to their resumes.
