Counseling Staff

Huaying Li (she/her/hers) is a staff counselor at Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS), based at the Redstone Campus office. She is a Rostered Psychotherapist in Vermont and pursuing her licensure as a Clinical Psychologist. Huaying’s clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in university counseling centers and children & family services.

Huaying is dedicated to multicultural counseling, focusing on culture, gender, sexual orientation, and various dimensions of diversity, such as providing support to international students, immigrants, and the Asian/Asian American student, and LGBTQIA+ community. Additionally, she offers bilingual counseling services in both English and Mandarin. Her clinical special interest includes eating disorders, identity development, interpersonal relationships, adjustment difficulties, trauma, depression, anxiety, and chronic mood disorders.

In her therapeutic approach, Huaying employs evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her goal is to create a warm, supportive and personalized experience for each client.
