Positions available

Medical Assistant/Clinic Assistant

  • Prepare patients for provider visits by bringing the patient to exam room, collecting and recording their chief complaint, vital signs, medications, allergies and other relevant information.
  • Following screening protocols, efficiently maintain flow of patient appointments, and communicate with providers about patients.
  • Under the direction of the nursing supervisor or assigned clinical provider, deliver clinical care to patients under orders and protocol as appropriate, including: assisting in care of minor wounds, durable medical equipment fitting and use education.
  • Facilitate completion of in-house, Point of Care Lab tests, collect and prepare lab specimens for testing by external laboratory service provider(s). Provide support for coordination of in office ECGs, urgent referrals, messages to patient and providers, fax orders and communicate with University staff/family/home medical providers.
  • Maintain clinical data and medical records according to protocol. Review and verify immunization records and complete other administrative duties as assigned.

Pay is $22-25/hour commiserate with experience.

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Medical assessment of those seeking primary care services, including comprehensive and compassionate medical histories, physical exams, and cost-effective diagnostic testing. Deliver screening and prevention interventions in accordance with evidence-based guidelines.
  • Provide high quality, evidence-based treatments, patient education, and referrals to medical specialist as needed. Collaborate and consult with peers, supervising physicians and Center for Health and Wellbeing colleagues as appropriate. Communication with patients, families as needed and permitted by privacy regulations.
  • Provide acute care services. Share in after-hours clinical coverage responsibilities. Provide medical coverage of on-campus varsity sporting events as assigned.
  • Document health-related encounters (i.e. medical appointments, phone or message communications) in a comprehensive, timely manner in the students’ electronic health record.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including clinical supervision, peer review, formal audits, professional development activities to support license and certification requirements and maintaining the most up-to-date practices.

Pay is $42-$48/hour depending on experience.

Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Clinical nurse visits for special areas of care (low acuity nurse visits within SHS protocol and provider consultation, travel clinic, allergy desensitization injections, nursing care and procedures).
  • Cross-coverage for other nursing team duties as needed (nursing intakes, point of care testing, collaboration with continuity providers, etc.). Coordinate acute health-related communication with local medical services (radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, community and university partners. Document these interactions in the student’s medical record.
  • Administrative nursing services: case management, public health screening/clearances, new student orientations, quality improvement projects, new clinical initiatives.
  • Triage nursing services via phone and/or in person. Provide nursing level assessments of student patients, offer appropriate self-care strategies, education, and appropriately disposition the presenting patients. Document interactions in electronic medical record. Work closely with scheduling staff guiding scheduling priorities.
  • Participate in Center for Health and Wellbeing-sponsored clinical programs (i.e. annual influenza vaccine clinics, tuberculosis screenings, and other health screenings).

Pay is $31-$35/hour for RNs and $25-$29 for LPNs depending on experience.
