Joanna is originally from the West Coast and has lived in Oregon, California and Nevada. She holds a B.S. in Food Science and Technology from California Polytechnic State University, where she gained hands-on food production experience working in the campus creamery. She earned her M.S. in Food Science from Oregon State University. Her master's research focused on the effects of processing on dairy proteins. Joanna has worked across a range of industries, including dairy, confectionery, biotech, and skincare. Her expertise is in developing laboratory methods to analyze food products. She now serves as a Maple Quality Specialist, aiding in the development of the maple quality testing program for the Maple Extension Center.
