Vermonters are encouraged to share their input with the University of Vermont committee searching for the next Director of Extension and Associate Dean in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The Director of Extension role is central to advancing UVM’s land-grant mission. This position also ensures that Extension continues serving the state through responsive programming, applied research, and strong community partnerships.

To help shape the position and identify the leadership qualities needed for the future, the search committee is hosting a series of summer listening sessions. The next one is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 from 2-3 p.m.

The committee hopes to hear from a rich representation of voices and perspectives at UVM and across the state, including from community partners and policy makers.

In addition to the listening sessions, and an online survey is be available. The committee is especially interested in perspectives on:

  • The most important priorities and opportunities for Extension
  • The experience and leadership approach needed in the next Director
  • How Extension can strengthen its partnerships and impact

The survey and listening sessions will directly inform:

  • The final position description
  • Candidate evaluation criteria
  • The design of the interview and selection process

Vermonters' voices are essential to help UVM recruit a leader who reflects and can advance the needs, values, and aspirations of the communities we serve.
