Burlington--Dairy farmers interested in improving the economic viability of their farm operation are invited to attend a free two-day workshop at one of three northern New England locations.
The Dairy Financial Tri-state Workshop is sponsored by the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center, which is hosted by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets. While agricultural service providers are encouraged to register, space is limited, so priority will be given to dairy producers.
Farmers will learn how to calculate cost of production and their breakeven milk price with the help of Tony Kitsos, University of Vermont (UVM) Extension dairy business program specialist, and Joanna Lidback, an Adirondack Management Services, LLC business consultant. The presenters also will discuss risk management and diversification options.
Although there is no cost to attend, registration is required by March 13. Registration information can be found at https://go.uvm.edu/costofproduction.
Farmers may attend any location, regardless of their state of residence, as programming is the same at each site. Anyone requiring a disability-related accommodation to participate, should notify the contact person listed for the location they plan to attend at least three weeks in advance of the workshop date.
