I'm a Spouse or Dependent
Spouses and dependents of full time faculty, staff or students at the University may obtain an ID card. We are a one-card campus— all campus amenities are serviced via the one UVM card. This card provides you access to library borrowing privileges and the UVM debit account known as CAT$cratch. You are required to bring a form of a government issued photo ID with you (Driver's license, Military ID, Passport, etc. The cost of the card is $10.00.

Faculty or Staff Spouse
- Spouses may obtain an ID after the employee has completed the spouse application form (available at the Human Resource Office in Waterman).
- Application forms must be signed by the employee as well as the Human Resource Office.
- Access to your privileges will be activated when the card is issued and remain valid for a two year period.
- CAT$cratch, the prepaid debit account, may be opened at any time and works right off the ID for your convenience.
- Cards do need to be renewed every two years, however renewal will not require an application form, just bring in your current Spouse ID.
- Cost is $10.00 each time and the signed application form and identification is needed for the first spouse ID.
Faculty or Staff Dependent
- Dependents may obtain an ID when accompanied by the employee or employee's spouse (spouse must have a current UVM Spouse ID).
- Dependents must be listed on the certification of dependent form with human resources.
- Dependents qualify for an ID up until eighteen years of age, and 18 to 24 years of age if considered a full time student.
- Access to your privileges will be activated when the card is issued and remain valid for a one year period.
- Cards do need to be renewed every year and parent (valid UVM ID required) must be present with the dependent.
- Cost is $10.00 and parent, (valid UVM ID required) must be present with the dependent.
Student Spouse
- Spouses may obtain an ID at the CATcard Service Center.
- To obtain a Courtesy ID card, both student and spouse must present identification and a copy of their marriage certificate.
- Access to your privileges will be activated when the card is issued and remain valid for a one year period.
- CAT$cratch, the prepaid debit account, may be opened at any time and works right off the ID for your convenience.
- Cards do need to be renewed every year, however renewal will not require a new verification card.
- Cost is $10.00
Student Dependent
- Dependents may obtain an ID when accompanied by the full time student.
- Dependents qualify for an ID up until birth to eighteen years of age, and 18 to 24 years of age if considered a full time student.
- Access to your privileges will be activated when the card is issued and remain valid for a one year period.
- Cards do need to be renewed every year, the parent must be present and their student status will be verified.
- Cost is $10.00 and the student must be present with the dependent.
