The pervasiveness and power of performance is central to social and cultural life. Our physical presence, our choices and how we act them in the world influence the environment around us. This symposium highlighted various areas of the field of performance studies in the context of Latin America. Studying theater and dance, and other forms of performance like rituals, storytelling, performance art, and practices of everyday life, is to focus on important ways in which humans construct meaning.
