Gregory Hunt is a Managing Director at Apollo Global Management (“Apollo”) where, since 2012, he has played an integral role in the firm’s development of its direct lending business. Apollo is one of the largest global alternative asset managers, with approximately $751 billion of assets under management (“AUM”). Mr. Hunt drove Apollo’s BDC (“Business Development Company”) buildout as CFO of the platform, which now encompasses three (3) BDCs and approximately $25 billion in AUM (a BDC is a direct lending vehicle registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940). Additionally, Mr. Hunt is responsible for Apollo’s aviation lending and leasing platforms, which have approximately $7 billion in AUM.
Prior to his current role at Apollo, Mr. Hunt served as a senior executive, acquiring over 20 years of financial and operational management experience, with private equity led public and private companies in the consumer products, manufacturing, travel, and real estate sectors. Mr. Hunt held the role of EVP & CFO at Yankee Candle, an affiliate and sponsor-backed business of Madison Dearborn Partners, which he joined in 2010. Prior to that, Mr. Hunt held the position of EVP & CFO at several Apollo affiliated entities, including Norwegian Cruise Lines, Countrywide PLC, Realogy, Samsonite Corporation, and Culligan Water.
Mr. Hunt is a board member and Audit Chair of Kymera International, Danimer Scientific and was the past Audit Chair of GoodWest Industries.
Mr. Hunt is also the Co-Chair of the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business Advisory Board.
Mr. Hunt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from the University of Vermont and is a Certified Public Accountant.
