Hats off to students Zoe Macdonald, Blake Winkley, Connor McCormack, and Alaina Vollmar who presented their team’s investment recommendation for Shoals Technologies at the Morgan Stanley Global Headquarters in New York City earlier this semester. The Wall Street Seminar class has helped to catapult GSB students into their careers.

The team’s presentation was a culmination of six months of research for the course taught by Professor Andrew Prevost.  The students learn from an "ecosystem," as Prevost describes, of UVM alumni at Morgan Stanley and DCS Advisory. Students developed an understanding of the tools used by market and corporate professionals that analyze the value of companies and stocks, and demonstrated the ability to showcase their understanding to industry professionals. They presented their group’s analysis of Shoals Technologies to the team of Morgan Stanley and DCS Advisory.

This course offers opportunities for alumni-student engagement. Jenny Pederson ’22 and Matias Ovrium ’22, began building relationships through this class during their time at UVM and now work at Morgan Stanley. As they begin their early careers, they’ve stayed connected with GSB and are leading current students into the industry through this course. Professor Prevost sees this course as an opportunity to dive into the industry and learn the ins and outs with some of the top industry professionals and UVM Alumni in the field. “It's not a class, it's an opportunity to put your career in turbo charge and spend time learning the profession with people that share a similar passion."

Senior Zoe MacDonald says this class offers a real-world experience where she can apply her classroom learning. “It’s demanding, but it really helps prepare you for outside of college, and what life is like day after day in this industry.” Despite the rigorous coursework, the opportunity helped her prepare for life after UVM. “This is the best experience for honing your skills.”
