“We know this time may be confusing and overwhelming, so please know that we are here for you,” says Sam Williams, the Director of the Center for Student Success team within the Grossman School of Business.

While classes are operating remotely and Vermont is following the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order, the Center for Student Success (CSS) continues to operate (remotely) to support the undergrad students in the Grossman School of Business. Some advisors have even promoted their furry friends to co-workers. All first- and second-year students within Grossman are assigned to one of the CSS’s professional, full-time advisors before they even enter Ifshin Hall. Each advisor guides students at all stages of their time at Grossman, from planning a schedule or declaring a concentration, theme or minor to connecting with the Career Center and networking with alumni. While all juniors are re-assigned to a professor in their area of interest, the CSS advising team is on hand to help with questions and concerns through a student’s whole college career. The team is in close contact with many student support partners across campus and assists in connecting students with important tools and resources

Last week was course registration for Fall 2020. Although students could not stop into the CSS office in Kalkin for some much-needed advice on classes to take, they could pop in (virtually) to the living rooms of the GSB advisor team throughout Vermont. Advisors are excited to hear that their students are in good health and on track, even amid everything going on throughout the world. All advising appointments, including ones already scheduled, are being held on Microsoft Teams. Questions from students that are assigned GSB faculty are coming into a new inbox GSBStudentServices@uvm.edu and the entire advising team is answering.

The CSS team is here to connect students to campus resources, advise on course selection, provide career guidance, and serve as a point of stability in these unique times. If you need help, reach out – the CSS team will be there.
