Ecological Landscape
The ecological landscape encompasses several aspects of the natural world that inspire oohs and aahs as well as aspects that may be passed by on a daily basis without much notice. From forests to fields to urban sites, several plant communities are present in South Burlington.
Plant communities contribute to the natural beauty of town as well as provide important elements of habitat for wildlife. An astounding diversity of plants and animals thrive in South Burlington.
These aspects of the landscape change throughout the year. As the seasons pass different plants will become more apparent as they bud, bloom and spread seeds. Similarly the wildlife present on the landscape changes as climate and food sources also shift. These shifts over time are part of the phenology of the landscape.
