May 3, 2017 (All day)

Hello Ashley,

I am double checking on your participation in PMNRCD's upcoming Eco Expo on May 3rd. I am hoping you are planning to come. We had talked about a couple of things - leading macros though also jeopardy. Do you have a preference?

That said, would you please let us know what space requirements, utilities, hands on help, and/or materials you might need for your activity? It may be that each presenter will have an assistant of the day. Will you find this helpful?

Please plan to be set up by 8:30 as students will begin to arrive at that time. There will be a brief welcome and then off to the activities!

Thank you so much for your participation and we are looking forward to a very fun filled day!

Kindly,

Beth Miller

Annual Conservation Field Day

Dear Conservation Field Day Leaders,

WOW! Where has the time gone?! I can’t believe it is already (past the) time to start planning the Winooski Valley Park District Annual Conservation Field Day!

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 17, 2017 for this year’s event, which will be hosted at the Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington as usual. We are again looking for volunteers to lead engaging, hands-on workshops and hope that you are able to attend again this year! This event isnot possible without the participation of our dedicated workshop leaders!

A reminder, as a workshop leader, you will lead five twenty-minute long workshops throughout the morning to five different groups of students. Each group will have between 10-15 students accompanied by at least one chaperone. We ask that workshops be geared to the 5th grade level and be as hands-on as possible.

If you are available to lead a workshop again this year please complete the online registration<https://goo.gl/forms/d2FWqy9dd5SFsPa52> form (please complete or let me know even if you are not available) by Friday April 14th.

If you are unable to make the event we would truly appreciate it if you could pass the information along to someone who could take your place, or provide us with their contact information so we may be in touch with them. Additionally, if you know of anyone who may be interested in leading a new workshop please feel free to share this information with them or have them contact me! We are always open to suggestions for new workshops and topics!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I can best be reached at (802) 863-5744 or info@wvpd.org<mailto:info@wvpd.org>.

We greatly appreciate and depend on your participation to make this wonderful day happen! We look forward to working with you again this spring!

Thank you,

Lauren M. Chicote

10:20 – 11:05 Third Presentation

Dear Presenter:

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to join Colchester High School for Fast Forward 2017. Fast Forward is essentially a career exploration day for underclassmen. The program provides 9th and 10th grade students an opportunity to meet and learn about potential careers that they are interested in pursuing post-high school.

Each year, we support our students in clarifying their post-secondary aspirations. You have been invited to share your personal and professional journey with our students to put a face on their dream jobs. Since we have been doing Fast Forwardwe have received very positive feedback from students about what they learn from the businesses and professionals that they connect with as part of this event. Past presenters have also indicated that they believed the day was productive.

Our students report that the most engaging presentations are ones in which presenters share a little of their personal journey to their current position, give an overview of what responsibilities and roles are available in their profession, describe what a typical day, week or month look like, and talk about what training or education their profession looks for in new hires.

On Tuesday May 23th, upon arrival, we will pair you with a CHS teacher who will take you to your presentation location. This teacher will also assist you with any potential technology needs. Please be aware that most of our presentation spaces have an LDC projector and windows-based computer if you would like to do a multimedia presentation. If your presentation is on a mac based computer please make sure to bring your adaptors as CHS is not a mac based school. If you have further technology needs please let us know and we will accommodate you.

It is always helpful to come with visual aids and/or an activity that will be engaging for students. Please plan on 45 minutes for your presentation with a few minutes for questions at the end.

Your schedule for May 23th will be

7:45 – 8:25 Arrival/Kick Off (all students will be in theater)

8:30 – 9:15 First Presentation

9:20 – 10:05 Second Presentation

10:20 – 11:05 Third Presentation

Please plan on arriving at CHS by 8:00 so you can get comfortable with your surroundings and make sure any tech needs can be met by our staff.

Thank you for taking the time to work with our students. We know that this takes commitment, desire and passion for you to be here. Thank you for helping our students make meaningful plans and progress toward their post-high school education, career and lives.

Please contact Mark Ellingson either by phone 264-5702 or via email mark.ellingson@colchestersd.org<mailto:mark.ellingson@colchestersd.org> with any questions you may have about Fast Forward.

Wishing you a great day,

May 23, 2017 -
8:15am to 11:00am

Ashley,

I am Mark Ellingson from Colchester High School. I am emailing to thank you for your help last year at our Fast Forward career event. Each year we offer our underclassmen the opportunity to meet and learn about professions they are interested by speaking directly people like you. We have hosted this event since 2006 and will be re-formatting our offerings this year.

As you may remember, at Colchester High School we pride ourselves on ensuring all of our students are ready for life, college and work beyond High School. One of the ways we do this is to connect our students with professionals in fields they are interested in. Last year during Fast Forward, students very much enjoyed hearing your perspective on what it takes to enter and be successful in your field.

This year we will be presenting three 45 minute workshops on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

· Our workshops will begin at 8:15, 9:10 and 10:00, respectively

· Groups will be limited to 20, whenever possible

· Each presenter will have a regular faculty present for any logistical assistance during their presentation

· Presentations should be interactive in nature, and informative about your profession and career paths leading to entry into your field.

We are hoping that you would be willing to join us again this year for this exciting opportunity for our students. Each year we hear from students about how helpful it was to meet with area professionals so they can better plan for college and life beyond high school.

Please let me know if you will be able to participate this year.

Thank you very much,

Mark E. Ellingson

Gorgia Elementary-PSA Announcement- Mariah

May 31, 2017 -
8:00am to 12:30pm

Hi Mariah,

Nice to chat earlier today. Sounds like your students have a lot of background knowledge about Lake Champlain and water quality, including looking at water quality data and maps to determine pollution in Lake Champlain. I like the idea of having the Watershed Alliance come in and work on the stewardship project PSA announcement with your class! Our interns will help with developing the PSA announcement, and we can also chat a bit more about getting future classes involved with the other components of our Stream Monitoring and Stewardship Program.

The summary of the program is as follows:

Date: Wednesday May 31st from 8:10-12:00.

Class periods: (Language Arts)- 5th grade 3 periods, ~20 students each

3 cores/day, all in morning ->

Period 1: 8:10-9:05

Period 2: 9:05-10:00

Period 3: 10:50-11:45

If possible, let me know if you can pass along any lesson plans so we can get a better idea of how to tailor our conversation to your classes.

Looking forward to working with your students! Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Best,

Amelia
