Background and Research Interests

Dan is currently an undergrad student studying chemistry at UVM. Dan grew up in Belmont Massachusetts, 10 minutes outside of Boston, and graduated from Belmont High in 2019. His interest in chemistry stems mainly from his wonderful AP chemistry teacher in high school who inspired him to pursue a degree in science. In his freshman year Dan was hooked by inorganic chemistry and material sciences and decided to pursue undergraduate research with team Ruggiero. In the Ruggiero Group, Dan is focused on characterizing the crystal structures of key minerals in shale such as dolomite and kerogen. Someday, Dan hopes to do research in the field of energy storage for his career.

Dan was drawn to UVM mostly because of its scenic location and proximity to the outdoors. Dan is a member of the rock-climbing team at UVM and enjoys outdoor climbing in the summertime and skiing the backcountry in the winter. Dan has two very friendly dogs, Leroy (chocolate lab) and Chowdah (yellow lab), whom he loves to spend time with when he is at home.

Stay tuned for exciting developments from Dan!
