Students can withdraw from or drop a course through the myUVM portal. Action taken by the student is how we determine when a drop or withdraw becomes effective.
Note that students who simply stop attending classes without dropping or withdrawing through their myUVM portal will remain enrolled in the course and will likely receive a failing grade on their transcript.
2026-2027 Tuition Refund Schedule for Undergraduate, Graduate, and PACE Students
If you're an Undergraduate, Graduate, or PACE student and you decide to fully withdraw from UVM - whether for medical or personal reasons - this refund schedule outlines how much tuition and fees you can expect to get back. This also applies to audited courses.
Tuition & Fees
Refunds for tuition and fees are based on the official withdrawal date and follow the schedule below.
Housing & Meals (for on-campus students)
If you live on-campus, housing and meal charges are refunded based on the official withdrawal date using a daily pro-rated calculation up until the 25% refund period ends. After that point, no refund is given for housing or meals.
Course-Specific Fees
Course-specific fees are fully refundable based on the official withdrawal date only if you drop the course by the 100% tuition refund date show on the schedule below. After that date, course-specific fees are non-refundable.

Tuition Refund Schedule for Students Participating in a UVM Exchange, or "UVM in..." Semester Program
The following refund schedule applies to students participating in a UVM Exchange, or "UVM in..." Semester Program where they are paying UVM tuition and fees, and in some cases housing and/or meals. This refund schedule is the same whether the student is withdrawing for medical or non-medical reasons.
Refunds of tuition, fees and housing/meal plan charges billed to students by UVM for UVM Exchange and UVM Semester study abroad programs are issued according to the schedule below. Please note that this schedule applies only to charges directly billed by the University to a student's UVM account.
